ThreadConnection brings thrifting a whole different meaning. Thread Connection aims to bring clothing to life. Founder Nastasia Scott wants to explore the stories and backgrounds of those donating their threads. Who are these women? How do they live? What do they look like? Normally, these aren't the questions customers ask as their shopping but it kind of reminds me of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Wouldn't it be cool if you knew the story of that dress or those shoes or that bag? What the donor went through and good times they've experienced. It's such a great idea!
"The goal of Thread Connection is to connect all women while serving the community of women's shelters in New York City. As much as I LOVE a good old thrift store, I always found myself wondering where my clothes truly came from, and the stories attached to their owners. Where have those threads taken them in their life's adventures?
There is a story attached to every piece of clothing, and now through ThreadConnection, you can learn it. Each carefully selected clothing contributor tells their own story, allowing the shopper to connect with the piece of clothing they are purchasing in a different way rather than simply fostering an anonymous buyer/seller relationship. Our contributors are models, actresses, designers, fashion bloggers, musicians, dancers, and people from so many other walks of life.
A portion of each sale will be donated to one of New York City's primary domestic violence resources for women, children, and their pets called URIPALS.
