Shoptiques x The Midi Maven Recap
This Wednesday I was able to host a live session with Co-host Britney of Shoptiques on the Best Spring and Easter Looks and how to style your outfits. But first let me share how this all went down.
I'd been telling myself that I need to collaborate with brands and really get my name out there. I've been so busy these couple of months that my blog was pretty much on the backburner until just recently. I was so excited about the spring and easter, doing a lookbook, etc. I had a list of companies I wanted to work with and set a reminder on my phone to contact at least 3 companies a day. But sometimes reminders on your phone aren't that convincing. I would make a mental note and swipe the reminder out of view.... not completing the task for the day. I also have clients I'm sending out pitches for and had a moment where I thought, "I'm doing all this work for my clients but I'm not putting in the same effort for myself."
I would psyche myself out thinking I'm not as popular, don't have that many pageviews, don't have that many subscribers.. but my motto is Just Do It. So I did. On Tuesday at 10:20am, I finally sent out an email to Shoptiques in hopes of working with them for the season. Can you believe that 3 hours later I received a response?!
See this is where God comes in. I'd been praying to God to help me with my Blog and that I'd really like to collaborate with more brands. So I took a leap of faith and contacted several companies that I'd like to work with. Sometimes we wait on God to literally order our steps, to tell us step by step what actions to take. But as you, pray you have to believe in the prayer you are speaking and follow up with the right actions. Pray believing that you've already received it. Your actions have to align with your prayers. God didn't tell me to contact this company but He saw my effort and allowed this opportunity. He also answered their prayers as well.
The Blogger that was supposed to be working on this project had just come down with the Flu and told them she wouldn't be able to make it in right after I expressed my interest! So Shoptiques would've been scrambling to find someone last minute to fill the spot but lo and behold, they saw my email and prayed that I'd be able to come in. And I said Yes. Although it was last minute I believed it was my chance to step outside my comfort zone and stretch myself. It was such a nerve wracking experience but I truly had an amazing time.
Lesson: Just Do It. Make the first step, trust in yourself and have faith!
